LOCKOUT 2004-2005 – How Current Canadiens Spent The Season

Seven members of the Canadiens have memories of the NHL-imposed lockout of eight years ago. Four of them rode out the dispute with European teams, the other three played in North America, two in the AHL and the other, Scott Gomez in his hometown of Anchorage Alaska.

TRADE DEADLINE PASSES-CANADIENS CALL UP GEOFFRION/REASSIGN LEBLANC

The Canadiens traded forward Andrei Kostitsyn to the Nashville Predators in return for a second round draft pick, their only move on the NHL level on ‘trade deadline day’. Late in the day they returned forward Louis Leblanc to the Hamilton Bulldogs and called up Blake Geoffrion. Geoffrion was acquired from the Predators a week and a half ago as part of the deal that sent Hal Gill to Nashville.

HORDICHUK THREATENS MOEN OVER GUDBRANSON INCIDENT

The Florida Panthers Darcy Hordichuk is vowing to avenge the Travis Moen/Erik Gudbranson fight that took place in an exhibition game September 27th.

In the third period of the 6-2 win over the Panthers, Moen hit Panthers rightwinger Evgeny Dadinov from behind sending him headfirst into the boards. Gudbranson then jumped Moen and the linesmen moved in. Moen landed two punches while one of the linesmen had Gudbranson’s arms tied up.



WANTED – LEFT WING FOR GOMEZ & GIONTA

It’s about chemistry, or in this case lack-of-chemistry as it relates to Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta and the six or seven players who have played left wing on their line this season. Against Phoenix last night Benoit Pouliot, Travis Moen and Tom Pyatt saw almost equal time on the Gomez line. Tomorrow night Jacques Martin will again start the game with Pyatt on the left side. How long it lasts is anyone’s gue
