BULLDOGS WIN GAME SEVEN IN TRIPLE OVERTIME

Winnipeg native Dustin Boyd scored an unassisted goal six seconds into the third overtime period to give the Hamilton Bulldogs a 2-1 win over the Manitoba Moose in the seventh game of the AHL’s North Division final. Nigel Dawes, another Winnipeg native tied the game early in the third period after Manitoba had carried a 1-0 from midway in the first.

The Bulldogs will meet either the Houston Aeros or the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL’s Western Conference final. Those teams meet in the seventh game of their series Tuesday night in Milwaukee.

CANADIENS RECALL FORWARDS DAWES & PALUSHAJ

Nigel Dawes seems to be one of those players who has trouble translating success in the American Hockey League to the NHL. He’s not big at 5’9”, but he’s a solid 200 pounds. He’s a good skater, strong on the puck, a willing participant in the physical nature of the game and has great hands. He has 109 goals and 215 points in 221 AHL games. Despite all that, he is in his fifth organization in five years as a professional.
