PACIORETTY WINS MASTERTON TROPHY

Winning individual awards used to be a rite of the Canadiens summer. Max Pacioretty was awarded the league’s Masterton Trophy for the comeback of the seasons. It was the first time a member of the Canadiens received major recognition in ten years. He joins Saku Koivu, Serge Savard and Henri Richard as recipients of the Masterton Memorial Trophy.



EMELIN SCORES WINNER – Russia to Semi-Finals at Worlds

Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin broke a 2-2 tie early in the third period as Russia defeated Norway 5-2 in the quarterfinal game at the World hockey championship in Stockholm Sweden. In other quarterfinal games Canada lost to Slovakia, the Czech Republic edged Sweden and Finland eliminated the United States.

The Canadiens Max Pacioretty continues to be Team USA’s dominant and highest scoring forward. He scored a goal and assist in a 5-0 win over Finland Sunday. Pacioretty now has ten points in six tournament games. leaving him third in the overall scoring, three points behind Russia’s Evgeni Malkin.

Max Pacioretty scored a goal and two assists as the United States opened their World Hockey tournament with a 7-2 win over France. Meanwhile, Canada shutout Slovakia 2-0. Both games were played in Helsinki Finland.
