The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 6-1 in a penalty filled at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto Saturday afternoon. It was the second half of a home and home weekend between the clubs. The Bulldogs beat Toronto 6-3 in Hamilton Friday night.

For the second straight night the Hamilton Bulldogs staged a comeback against the Rochester Americans. Friday night in Rochester they eventually lost 3-2 in a shootout. Saturday they scored four goals in just over 5 minutes to win 4-3.

The Hamilton Bulldogs came from behind to tie the Rochester Americans on Friday night but finally bowed 3-2 in a shootout. The game was played in Rochester.

Michael Bournival scored the only goal of the shootout and the Hamilton Bulldogs opened their season with a 4-3 victory at Grand Rapids Michigan.

It is often said the Canadiens farm system has dried up, that the majority of the team’s future talent is only now emerging from junior hockey and still years away. If so, how was it that through their injury plagued season the Habs were able to bring eight players into their lineup who held rookie status?

Depth of talent is a Canadiens issue on both left and to a lesser extent on right wing. It is not a glaring problem at centre ice. where Desharnais, Plekanec and Eller hold the top three spots and there is large group of centremen who are in the wings waiting for their chance.

The recall of goaltender Robert Mayer is due to persisting headaches being suffered by Carey Price which may, or may not be a concussion. Price suffered the injury apparently in a practice goalmouth collision with teammate David Desharnais. Foreward Gabriel Dumont replaces Petteri Nokelainen, who suffered an upper body injury Saturday in Washington. The Canadiens go into Wednesday night’s game against Tampa with nine players out of their lineup.

The Canadiens reduced their training camp roster to 39 Monday with the re-assignment of forward Gabriel Dumont to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Eleven of the 39 remaining players are nursing injuries.

Chris Neil scored his second goal with 28 seconds remaining in regulation time as the Ottawa Senators edged the Canadiens 3-2 at the Bell Centre Saturday night. The goal came just as a penalty to Brian Gionta expired. Milan Michalek also scored for the Senators while both Canadiens goals came off the stick of Michael

Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today that the Club agreed to a three-year contract (2010-11 to 2012-13) with centreman Gabriel Dumont. As per Club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Dumont joined the Hamilton Bulldogs earlier today.
