All seven members of the locked-out Canadiens currently in Europe are now off for ten days as the leagues take their rraditional ten day December break. Tomas Plekanec notched another assist in a losing effort against Sparta Prague on Sunday.



ANDREI MARKOV PLAYS SECOND KHL GAME SUNDAY

Andrei Markov played his second game for Chekhov in the KHL Sunday. He was held off the scoresheet as his team edged Donbass 2-1. The game was played in the Eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

The Canadiens have always had the policy of drafting the best available player on their list rather than opting for position. Because of the fixation the rest of the league had on defensemen, Trevor Timmins and his staff found themselves in position to draft forwards who had seemed to slip through the cracks starting with first round choice Alexander Galchenyuk who was available because Columbus opted for a defense prospect.
