CANADIENS NEED GOALTENDING DEPTH

At the NHL level the Canadiens goaltending is solid with Carey Price and his backup Peter Budaj. But, as we found out at the end of the season when Price suffered his concussion, the talent level drops off precipitously when the Canadiens were forced to go to their farm team for help.



BULLDOGS EDGE SYRACUSE 1-0 IN SHOOTOUT FRIDAY

The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Syracuse Crunch 1-0 in a shootout Friday night at Copps Coliseum. In registering the double shutout, Syracuse goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur made 46 saves and the Bulldogs Curtis Sanford stopped 22. The last 1-0 shootout game for the Bulldogs was played on April 7, 2007 when they defeated the Toronto Marlies

BULLDOGS LOSE AT GRAND RAPIDS WEDNESDAY

The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 on Wednesday night. Curtis Sanford made 45 saves for the Bulldogs but Evan Rankin scored a third period goal to lead the Griffins to the win.  J.T. HAMILTON BEATS MANITOBA 3-1 (Nov.2/10)

CANADIENS QUESTION MARKS FOR SEASON OPENER

The Canadiens assigned five to the minors today with no surprises in the group. They open their season with some question marks. Carey Price suffering from the flu; Roman Hamrlik has had an injury setback; Michael Cammalleri is suspended and Andrei Markov is still rehabilitating from May knee surgery.



ALEX HENRY ON WAIVERS-Also Curtis Sanford

Size isn’t everything – at least not in the NHL.
The Canadiens placed 6’6” 230 lb. Alex Henry on waivers today along with goaltender Curtis Sanford. Niether is likely be claimed which means they return to the Hamilton Bulldogs for another season. During training camp Henry appeared to be the favourite to win the battle for the final spot on the Canadien defence over Alexandre Picard despite the fact that Picard seemed to be having a better camp.
