Steve Quailer scored a power play goal with 3:47 remaining in the third period to break a 0-0 tie and give the Hamilton Bulldogs a 1-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters.



BULLDOGS SHUT OUT ABBOTSFORD SATURDAY

The Hamilton Bulldogs bounced back from a 5-1 Friday night shellacking in Abbotsford to record a 3-0 shutout win against the Heat Saturday. Cedrick Desjardins stopped 24 shots for his first shutout of the season.

The Hamilton Bulldogs’ goalscorig woes have become epidemic. For the second time in three games they generated over forty shots on goal but managed only one goal in each outing. Despite outshooting the Lake Erie Monsters 43-27 the came out on the short end of a 4-1 score.



BULLDOGS BEAT MARLIES FRIDAY-First of Home-And-Home

the Hamilton Bulldogs, led by Brendan Gallagher and Alexander Avtsin, came away with a 6-3 win over the Toronto Marlies in the first of a home and home set with the Toronto Marlies Friday night. The teams will meet again in Toronto Saturday afternoon.



LOUIS LEBLANC OUT FOUR TO SIX WEEKS-High Ankle Sprain

Canadiens prospect Louis Leblanc will miss four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain according to an injury update released by the Hamilton Bulldogs Wednesday. Leblanc suffered the injury in a game against the Toronto Marlies last Saturday night.



GEOFFRION, LEBLANC AND BLUNDEN AMONG CANADIENS MINOR LEAGUE ASSIGNMENTS

Players on entry level or two way contracts are eligible to be returned to an NHL’s minor league affiliate during the NHL lockout. Louis Leblanc has two seasons remaining in his entry level contract while both Blake Geoffrion and Michael Blunden have two-way agreements. All three played a signiificant number of games with the parent Canadiens last season.

At the NHL level the Canadiens goaltending is solid with Carey Price and his backup Peter Budaj. But, as we found out at the end of the season when Price suffered his concussion, the talent level drops off precipitously when the Canadiens were forced to go to their farm team for help.



CANADIENS SWAP GOALTENDERS WITH TAMPA BAY

Obviously, Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier or his European scouting saw something they liked in goaltender Karri Ramo’s play with Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League this season past. Monday they traded goaltending prospect Cedrick Desjardins to the Tampa Bay Lightning in order to get his NHL rights. The 6’2″ Ramo played in 44 games with Omsk last season with a league-sixth 2.11 GAA and a .913 save percentage. Unless he is released, Ramo has one year remaining in a two year contract he signed with Omsk in June of 2009.
Ramo was the starting goaltender for the International side at the KHL All-star game last January.
Desjardins, will be rejoining his Hamitlon coach Guy Boucher in Tampa training camp. Boucher became the Lightning head coach during the off season.
