the Hamilton Bulldogs, led by Brendan Gallagher and Alexander Avtsin, came away with a 6-3 win over the Toronto Marlies in the first of a home and home set with the Toronto Marlies Friday night. The teams will meet again in Toronto Saturday afternoon.

Rather than playing for AHL wages he earned top money in the KHL and arrived in Montreal a fully developed NHL defenseman.
Because of the injury to Brian Gionta, which took him out of the seaason’s second half, right wing on the Canadiens became a serious problem. Gionta’s replacements were a mixture of rookies and fourth line players and the results were predictable. Gionta returns next season but the Canadiens still have a major third line iissue to deal with.
The Bingham Senators scored two unanswered goals in the third period en route to a 4-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs Friday night. The AHL game was the first of two scheduled for the Bell Centre this season. Nikolai Filatov scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Senators.
Led by a three point performance from Alexander Avtsin, the Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Binghamton Senators before over 8,400 fans at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
