BULLDOGS WIN SEASON OPENER

Oct 8th, 2011 | By | Category: Hockey-General News, St. John's IceCaps

Brock Trotter and Frederic St. Denis each scored two goals as the Hamilton Bulldogs opened their season with a 5-2 victory over the Rochester Americans Saturday night.  Ian Schultz scored the other goal.  Three of the Hamilton goals came on their power play.  One of Trotter’s goals came on a penalty shot.  He also assisted on both of the St. Denis goals for a four point night.

Trotter was playing on what shapes up to be Hamilton’s top line with minor league veteran Brian Willsie and Aaron Palushaj.  The line took eight of the Bulldogs twenty-seven shots.

The Bulldogs are now off until October 14th when they’ll play the first of back to back games in St. John’s Newfoundland.

Note – The Bulldogs opened their season with a new head and assistant coach, a new starting goalie, and 13 new skaters; twelve if you want to ignore the seven games defenseman Joe Stejskal played after he graduated from school last spring. Gone from last spring’s playoff roster are goaltender Drew MacIntyre, eight forwards and four defencemen.

…..RW Alain Berger, C Philip DeSimone, LW Philippe Lefebvre and D Olivier Malka all played in their first professional games.
