Winnipeg native Dustin Boyd scored an unassisted goal six seconds into the third overtime period to give the Hamilton Bulldogs a 2-1 win over the Manitoba Moose in the seventh game of the AHL’s North Division final.  It came on Boyd’s game-leading eighth shot on goal and was his first goal of this year’s playoffs.  He has seven assists.  The goal ended the longest game seven in the 75-year history of the American Hockey League.

The Bulldogs will meet either the Houston Aeros or the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL’s Western Conference final. The first two games will be played Friday and Sunday on the road.

Hamilton dominated the game territorially.  In a battle of goaltenders, 6’5” Swedish-born rookie Eddie Lack stopped 55 of  57 shots.  Drew MacIntyre, who started in the Bulldogs nets for the 34th consecutive time   stopped 29 of 30.  MacIntyre ranks first in the AHL playoff goals-against average (1.63) and third in save percentage (.939), and he has allowed two goals or fewer in 11of his 13 playoff appearance

Vancouver took a 1-0 lead on a first period Sergei Shirokov power play goal.  Another Winnipeg native, Nigel Dawes ended a 108:34 Hamilton scoring drought with his 9th goal of the playoffs at 6:24 of the third period setting the stage for the game winner.

The Bulldogs have tomorrow off and will fly to either Milwaukee or Houston Wednesday for game one of the AHL semi-final series.  The Aeros and Admirals meet in game seven of their series tomorrow night in Milwaukee to decide who will host Hamilton.
