Nigel Dawes tallied a pair of goals, and Hamilton scored four times in the third period to collect a series-clinching 4-1 win over visiting Oklahoma City on Sunday afternoon in Game 6 of the teams’ North Division semifinal.

The division-champion Bulldogs now advance to the North Division Finals, where they will meet the winner of Tuesday’s Game 7 between Lake Erie and Manitoba.

The Barons scored early in the third period to make it 1-0 but the lead lasted just 1:02.  Nigel Dawes scored his fourth postseason goal to tie the game. Bulldogs defenseman Frederic St. Denis  buried the eventual game-winner on the power play with less than three minutes left in regulation, and Dawes and J.T. Wyman added empty-netters late.

Aaron Palushaj assisted on both goals by Dawes and wound up with three assists in the game.  During the six game series the Dawes/Palushaj/Dustin Boyd line registered 20 scoring points and were a part of seven of the total of fifteen Hamilton goals.  Dawes had 5 goals and 2 assists; Palushaj 2 and 4 and Boyd had five assists. Bulldogs goaltender Drew MacIntyre stopped 24 of 25 shots to pick up the win in net.  He finished the series with a 1.67GAA and a .945 save percentage.

Hamilton moves on to the division finals for the second consecutive season. In 2010, they ousted Manitoba and Abbotsford before falling to Texas in a seven-game conference final.  The Bulldogs will begin the North Division Final on Thursday, April 28th at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. Game two will be Sunday at 4:00pm.
