20-THOUSAND WATCH CANADIENS SUNDAY PRACTICE

Jan 23rd, 2011 | By | Category: Canadiens, Latest News

The Canadiens played in front of their 249th consecutive regular season sellout crowd last night against Anaheim.

This morning the Bell Centre was packed again.  Twenty thousand came out for a ten o’clock Sunday team practice.

Well it wasn’t really a practice. Better described as a chance for the players to show-off a little in front of the kids.

There was four-on-four scrimmaging followed by an All-Star style skills competition.

Andrei Kostitsyn and Brian Gionta were four-for-four in target shooting. Gionta was declared the winner because he took 11.5 seconds to hit the four targets to Kostitsyn’s 11.6.

Benoit Pouliot recorded the hardest shot. In his two attempts he registered 102 and 101 miles per hour. Yannick Weber hit 99 miles per hour twice; James Wisniewski, P.K. Subban and Jaroslav Spacek clocked 98 mph.

Max Pacioretty, sore ribs and all, was the fastest skater. He completed a lap around the Bell Centre ice in 14.26 seconds to Tom Pyatt’s 14.42. David Desharnais was timed in 14.65 and P.K. Subban 14.72.
