MARTIN JUGGLES THIRD/FOURTH LINES VS. LA KINGS

While things remain status quo for the Canadiens top two lines for tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Kings, Candiens coach Jacques Martin has made some interesting moves to the bottom end of his offensive lineup.

In spite of accounting for all six scoring points Monday night in Philadelphia, Martin has broken up the Jeff Halpern/Maxim Lapierre/Benoit Pouliot line.

What Martin saw from the line in the first period was apparently negated by the line’s performance in the final forty minutes during which they were on the ice for the two goals that allowed the Flyers to come back and tie the game.

So tonight, Pouliot, who earned the primary assist on both of Lapierre’s goals, will be centred by Lars Eller with Mathieu Darche out of the press box to play the right side. Halpern and Lapierre will be joined by Tom Pyatt on the left wing.

Which one is the fourth line? On paper they look pretty even, offensively. But maybe that’s the method in the coach’s madness.   Eller had a rough night and was limited to five minutes with Pyatt and Weber in Philadelphia.  Playing with Pouliot and Darche should make things more interesting.

Scott Gomez remains with Michael Cammalleri and Travis Moen tonight. They didn’t look very cohesive Monday night, but then again the team as whole had the same problem.
