Three weeks into the season and the Canadiens have already lost 30 man games due to injury or illness.
Three Canadiens defencemen, Alexei Emelin, Douglas Murray and Davis Drewiske haven’t played a game. Right winger George Parros was hurt in the season opener and Max Pacioretty has missed two and counting.
We’re not going to see Drewiske until maybe the playoffs and, if the three week recovery time-estimate stands up, Max Pacioretty is going to miss the next ten games.
But there is some relief in sight.
Parros skated for the second straight day apparently with no residual effects from the concussion he suffered in the fight with Toronto’s Colton Orr October first.
Defencemen Douglas Murray (shoulder sprain) and Alexei Emelin (knee surgery), also skated on their own following the Canadiens practice. We know Emelin won’t be ready until late next month or early December. Murray’s problem may be conditioning more than recovery from the shoulder injury.
The Canadiens look for their fifth win in a row against Nashville Saturday night.
