Notes

….This is the fifth of six straight games against Northeast Division rivals.  In the stretch  they are 2-2-0; overall 2-3-0 vs. the Northeast this season..  They conclude the current series  against Toronto Saturday night at the Bell Centre.

….Since the Saturday afternoon loss to the Canadiens the Sabres have lost one goal games to Florida and Ottawa.

…..Ryan Miller figures to be back in net for the Sabres on Thursday after Jhonas Enroth got his second start of the season against the Senators on Tuesday.

…..The Sabres opened the season with two straight wins.   Since then they have won 1 of their last eight.

….. Buffalo is 8-1-1 in the past 10 meetings with the Canadiens.  Their last  ten at home they are 6-2-2 vs the Habs.

…..The Sabres have have allowed a league worst 3.70 goals per game, including six goals against vs. the Canadiens Feb 2nd. During their 1-6-1 stretch they’ve given up 4.3 per game..

……Prior to last Saturday when he gave up four goals on 21  shots through two periods,   Ryan Miller was 6-0-1 with a 1.12 GAA and two shutouts in his previous seven starts against the Canadiens.  Miller was pulled at the end of the second period for Jhonas Enroth, who allowed two on eleven shots.

……Miller is 1-4-1 with a 3.67 GAA in his last six appearances.  At home against the Canadiens he’s 3-0-1 with a 1.45 GAA and a shutout in the last four games.

……Austrian born Thomas Vanek had an eight game scoring streak ended on Tuesday against Ottawa.  He still  leads the NHL with 19 points., He scored against the Canadiens Saturday, only his second goal his last 22 games versus Montreal.

…..Subban registered an assist in his season debut against  Buffalo on Saturday.  It was just his third point  in 13 career games against the Sabres.  He has only one assist in six games in Buffalo.

…..Buffalo’s 5-0-1 (.917) record against Montreal last season was the second-best in franchise history, bested only by their 6-0-0 record in 1983-84.

……The Sabres have more wins against the Canadiens (116) than any other NHL franchise.  Boston is second at 115.

…..Buffalo ranks third in the league on the power play scoring at home  (5-for-12)

Andrei Markov has 4g 5assists in nine games to lead the Canadiens in scoring… Buffalo Thomas Vanek leads the League with 11 assists and 19 points. Cody Hodgson has two goals and five assists in the last four games, Jason Pominville has three goals and three assists in the last five.
