BULLDOGS SHUTOUT IN ROCHESTER NEW YEAR’S EVE

We knew it would be a struggle for the Hamilton Bulldogs this season.   They entered the season with nine rookies, six of them 20 years of  age.  Then they lost two of their best offensive hopes in Blake Geoffrion and Aaron Palushaj to long-term injuries.

Monday night the Bulldogs were shutout for the second straight game, going down 2-0 to the Americans in Rochester. Hamilton has now lost seven of their last eight  games.

Unlike the 4-0 loss in Cleveland Saturday night where they were outshot 47-17, the Bulldogs had a large shots-on-goal-advantage in this game (34-26) but ran into the goalscoring difficulties that have  plagued the young team all season.  The Bulldogs held a 15-8 shots advantage at the end of the first period but trailed 1-0.   Cedrick Desjardins was in goal for the Bulldogs.  David Leggio was credited with the shutout for Rochester.

Evan Rankin and Mark Mancari scored the goals for the Americans, a Buffalo Sabres affiliate.

The Bulldogs move on to play the Marlies in Toronto on Wednesday.
