17-Brendan Gallagher – Hamilton Bulldogs

20 year old Brendan Gallagher can’t do it all for the Hamilton Bulldogs.   He scored  his team-leading ninth goal of the season but it was the only one the Bulldogs could  muster in a 2-1 loss to the St. John’s IceCaps Friday night in Hamilton.   Not only did Gallagher score the only goal, he also led Hamilton in shots with six.

Brendon Nash and Olivier Fortier assisted on the Gallagher goal.  It was Fortier’s point since being called up from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

The Bulldogs, who are carrying,  and playing six 20 year-olds on their roster on a nightly basis, have now lost three games in a row and sixteen of their last twenty-two games.

The Bulldogs will play San Antonio at home on Saturday before heading out on another road trip.  By the time their road misery ends in early January at they will have played sixteen of twenty-two games on the road in four time zones with games in St. John’s Newfoundland followed only eight days later by two games in Abbotsford British Columbia.  In between the Bulldogs have been in the midwest at Chicago, Rockford and Peoria Illinois, plus Milwaukee Wisconsin and at the end of it they will play in Cleveland, Rochester and Toronto before the misery is over following the game in Toronto on January 2nd.
