The Swiss National League resumed it’s schedule Tuesday following the ten day December break that most European Leagues traditionally observe.
In Zurich, Fribourg shutout the hometown Lions 4-0. David Desharnais assisted on one of the goals. In eleven games Desharnais now has a goal and seven assists.
Zug edged the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 5-4 at home. Raphael Diaz, the SNL’s top scoring defenseman was kept off the scoresheet. Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg scored for Zug. Jason Spezza had a goal and an assist for Rapperswil. Diaz has 7 goals and 20 assists in 27 SNL games.
Geneva-Servette edged Davos 3-2 Tuesday. No points for Yannick Weber, although he did pick up a ten minute misconduct in the game. Davos’ leading scorer Joe Thornton was not in their lineup, apparently not back from North America.
Canadiens centre Lars Eller was held off the scoresheet along with his teammates as JYP Jyväskylä was shutout by the Espoo Blues 1-0 Tuesday night. Eller has five goals and eight assists in his ten games with JYP.
The Russian KHL resumes it’s schedule on Wednesday with Vityaz (Andrei Markov) at Serverstal and Ak-Bars Kazan (Alexei Emelin) hosting Moscow CSKA.
In the Czech Extra Liga Kladno (Tomas Plekanec) plays at Pardubice.
