BULLDOGS SHUT OUT ABBOTSFORD SATURDAY
Dec 2nd, 2012 | By reusch | Category: Hamilton Bulldogs, Hockey-General News
The Hamilton Bulldogs rebounded from a dreadful 5-1 loss in AbbotsfordFriday night to shut out the Heat 3-0 Saturday. Cedrick Desjardins stopped all 24 shots Hamilton’s first shutout win of the season. Patrick Holland, Steve Quailer and Louis Leblanc scored for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Calgary Flames affiliate 27-24.
Two things were markedly different from the game 24 hours earlier. First, the Bulldogs played a simplified road game with a solid forecheck and in their own zone they were very good at chipping the puck out and forcing play to the outside. Secondly, they stayed out of the penalty box. They were shorthanded only three times. In Friday’s game they took nine minor penalties and gave up four power play goals (BoxScore and updated Hamilton Scoring Stats Below)
Outside of Desjardins, the Bulldogs best player was Brendan Gallagher. Other notable performances from forwards Holland and Blunden plus defenceman Jarred Tinordi. Frederic St. Denis turned in his usual steady game as well.
The Bulldogs return to the Eastern time zone to play at Syracuse next Friday.
