Rich Peverley – Lars Eller

Another assist for Lars Eller but JYP Jyväskylä dropped a  2-1 decision to KalPa Kuopiu Saturday.  Eller assisted on Boston forward Rich Peverley’s goal which gave JYP a 1-0 lead.  Once again the Eller/Peverley/Eric Perrin line dominated the game.   Led by Eller’s 6, the line piled up 12 of Jyväskylä’s 33 shots on goal.  In seven games Eller has 4 goals and 7 assists for Jyväskylä.  The Rangers Derek Stepan is on the KalPa roster.  He failed to get a point.

Yannick Weber assisted on Geneva’s only goal in a 5-1 home ice loss to Lugano.  Former Canadien Glen Metropolit led Lugano with a goal and assist and Paul DiPietro, the last remaining member of the 1993 Stanley Cup winning Canadiens still active, recorded two assists.

Fribourg (David Desharnais) and Zug (Raphael Diaz) weren’t scheduled Saturday.

In the KHL Ak-Bars Kazan (Alexei Emelin) will play Atlant at the northeast Moscow suburb of Mytischi  Sunday while Vityaz Chekhov (Andrei Markov) travels to the Kazakhstan capital of Astana to play Barys.

Next game for Tomas Plekanec and his Kladno teammates will be at home Sunday against Liberec.

In the East Coast Hockey League the Alaska Aces edged the Ontario California Reign 4-3  in overtime.  Scott Gomez was not in the lineup for the second night in a row after suffering food poisoning.  Gomez has missed four of the last five games.

In Junior Hockey 

Alexander Galchenyuk had his biggest night of the season, 3 goals and an assist, as the Sarnia Sting beat the Peterborough Petes 5-2.   With the four points Galchenyuk moves into third place in the OHL scoring race with 19  goals, 29 assistsfor 48 points. The Sting move on to play in Oshawa  Sunday.

The Windsor Spitfires (Brady Vail) host Ottawa Sunday at 2.00pm

The QMJHL’s Chicoutimi Sagueneens were beaten by Moncton 4-1.  Canadiens fifth round draft choice Charles Hudon was limited to one assist.  In 24 games Hudon now has 15 goals, 17 assists and 32 points.   The Sagueneens move on to play Acadie-Bathurst Sunday.

The Kamloops Blazers dropped a 3-2 decision to Moose Jaw.  Tim Bozon notched one assist.   The Blazers are in Seattle Sunday evening for their third game in three nights.
