Tomas Plekanec

Among  the gaggle of  locked out Canadiens toiling in Europe only Tomas Plekanec saw action Thursday.  Plekanec scored once and assisted on the winning goal as Kladno scored a home ice 3-0 win over Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad).  Devils defenceman Marek Zidlicky had three assists and Jaromir Jagr scored a goal and assisted on another.  In his last three games, Plekanec has seven points; two goals and five assists.  Overall he has 35 points in 23 games; 17 goals and 18 assists.  Next up for Kladno, a home game against Liberec Sunday.

In the ECHL Wednesday night, Scott Gomez returned to the Alaska Aces lineup in a 6-2 win over the Thunder in Stockton California.  Gomez picked up a couple of minor penalties but no points in the game. Gomez had missed two games with what his coach called a lower body “tweak”.  The Aces are on a three game trip in California.  They play at Bakersfield Friday and Ontario Saturday.

Louis Leblanc is expected to return to the Hamilton lineup for the Bulldogs doubleheader-weekend Friday and Saturday at Abbotsford B.C.   Leblanc has missed 13 games after suffering a high ankle sprain in a game in Toronto October 20th.  Veteran defenceman Mike Commodore is also expected to make his season debut this weekend.  Commodore, an unrestricted free agent, signed an AHL contract with the Bulldogs last Wednesday.

Ahead on the European schedules Friday

Lars Eller and JYP will host HIFK Helskinki  in the Finnish SM-Liiga.

In Switzerland  David Desharnais and Fribourg will be at Biel.   Canadiens teammates Raphael Diaz and Yannick Weber will face each other as Zug hosts Geneva.

The weekend schedule  for the Canadiens Junior Prospects -

In the OHL,  Thursday night the Windsor Spitfires lost 4-2 at home to Barrie.  2012 fourth round pick Brady Vail had a goal and assist bringing his season total to 27 points in 27 games (11 goals, 16 assists). The Spitfires will play at Kitchener Friday.  P.K. Subban will make his debut as a Sportsnet colour commentator in their telecast of the game.  They’ll be back home to Ottawa on Sunday.

The Sarnia Sting (Alex Galchenyuk) will host Saginaw Friday and play at Peterborough on Saturday.  Galchenyuk has 41 points in 25 games including 15 goals.   As one might expect from a first round draft pick, he is the highest scoring prospect in the Canadiens organization.

In the QMJHL – The Chicoutimi Sagueneens (Charles Hudon) will make  an East Coast  swing playing in Halifax Friday, Moncton on Saturday and Acadie-Bathurst on Sunday.   Hudon has 15 goals and 15 assists in 22 games this season.   And 2011 fourth round choice Olivier Archambault and his Drummondville Voligeur teammates will host Gatineau Friday and Blainville/Boisbriand on Sunday.  Archambault has 12 goals and 15 assists in 27 games.

Only the Western Hockey League can come up with the scheduling Kamloops faces over the next five days.  The Blazers (Tim Bozon) will host Tri City Friday and Moose Jaw on Saturday, travel to Seattle for Sunday and then return home to play Swift Current on Tuesday.  Bozon has 16 goals, 22 assists for a total of 38 points in 27 games.
