BULLDOGS LOSE 4-1 TO LAKE ERIE SUNDAY

Nov 25th, 2012 | By | Category: Hamilton Bulldogs, Hockey-General News

It was a difficult evening for the Hamilton Bulldogs as a whole and goaltender Cedrick Desjardins in particular.

Playing against his former Lake Erie Monster teammates, Desjardins gave up four goals on fourteen shots before he was replaced by Robert Mayer at 10:28 of the second period.  Mayer did not give up a goal the rest of the way as the Monsters defeated the Bulldogs 4-1.

Scoring for the Colorado Avalanche affiliate were Dave van der Gulik, Bill Thomas, Patrick Bordeleau, and Mark Olver.

Aaron Palushaj scored  the lone Hamilton goal. (Box Score and Hamilton Individual Season Stats Below)

The Bulldogs with all of their youth were expected to have difficulty scoring goals.  For the second time in three games they generated over forty shots and could only one goal.  Tuesday in St. John’s they had a season high 46 shots and lost 3-1.  In this game they took  43.   Palushaj and Kyle Hagel led Hamilton with six shots apiece.   Palushaj now shares the team goal scoring lead with Brendan Gallagher at six.

The fourth line of Hagel, Zack Stortini, and Alain Berger was the Bulldogs best.

 Notes –

……The Bulldogs gave up the first goal of the game  for the 14th straight game.  They have lost ten of the fourteen games (4-8-2).

……Hamilton had a season-high 20 shots on goal in the second period but could manage only the Aaron Palushaj goal.

……After returning from a high ankle sprain earlier in the week, Louis Leblanc was scratched.  Other injuries include D-Greg Pateryn (fractured elbow); C-Joonas Nattinen (upper body); C-Blake Geoffrion (skull fracture).

……Veteran defenceman Mike Commodore signed a Hamilton contract  on Wednesday.  Not in game condition, Commodore was a healthy scratch.  D-Joe Stejskal was also left out of the Bulldogs lineup.

……The Hamilton power play continues to struggle.  At the end of the first period the had one power play goal their last 22 opportunities and overall they are at 9 percent.  They have killed off the last 12 opposition power play chances.

……The Bulldogs will play eight of their next nine games on the road starting with a doubleheader at Abbotsford B.C. Friday and Saturday.
