LOCKED OUT HABS WEDNESDAY -Emelin Sees Action/Markov Misses Second Straight

Ak Bars (Snow Leopards) Kazan

Ak-Bars and Alexei Emelin lost 2-1 at home to Yaroslavl Lokomotiv Wednesday.  The New York Rangers Artem Anisimov scored the winning goal.  Emelin is not expected to rack up points and he’s not doing it in the KHL either.   In seven games with Kazan he has one assist and is averaging 20:11 in ice time.  In this game he logged 20:05 and two shots on goal.  Yaroslavl goaltender and former Hamilton Bulldogs goaltender Curtis Sanford stopped 34 of 35 shots.

Andrei Markov was again out of the Chekhov lineup as Vityaz beat Automobilist Sverdlovsk 5-4 in a shootout Wednesday.  Sverdlovsk is a city of 130 thousand located 500 kilometres north of Moscow.   Chekhov will play Metallurg in Magnitigorsk on Friday to finish their three game road trip.  Metallurg is coached by Paul Maurice.  Pittsburgh’s Evgeny Malkin plays for them along with former Hab defenseman Brent Sopel and team captain Sergei Fedorov.

……In the Swiss league Geneva (Yannick Weber)will play at Biel Friday and on the same day Zug (Raphael Diaz) goes to Bern.

…..Tomas Plekanec‘s next Kladno Knights Czech Extraliga game will be Friday at Pardubice against the Vitkovice Steelers.  The Moravian city of Pardubice is goaltender Dominek Hašek’s hometown and where he played the first eight years of his professional hockey career..

Among the Prospects…..

…..The Hamilton Bulldogs will next play a home and home set  with the Americans; Friday in Rochester  and Saturday at Copps Coliseum.

…..Among the juniors –   Following a five game road trip forced by Skate Canada in their home arena, Windsor and Brady Vail will host the London Knights Thursday.  On Friday, Alex Galchenyuk and Sarnia will host Plymouth.

…..Kamloops Blazers (Tim Bozon) of the WHL will play at Kelowna on Thursday.
