CANADIENS IN EUROPE-Emelin at Siberia/Kaberle Scores Game Winner

Alexei Emelin and his Ak-Bars Kazan teammates lost to Sibir Novosibirsk Sunday in the Kontinental Hockey League.   Emelin did not figure in the scoring while logging 19:39 ice time and picking up a two minute minor penalty.   It was Emelin’s fourth game since finally signing with Ak-Bars last weekend.  In the four games Emelin has 0 points, six minutes in penalties, five shots and is averaging 21 shifts and 19:31 ice time per game.

This game was played in front of 7500 fans at Novosibirsk Siberia, Russia’s third largest city.

………..In the Czech Extraliga, Tomas Kaberle scored the game winning goal as the Kladno Knights beat Liberec Bílí Tygři (White Tigers) 3-1.  The game was played before a sellout crowd of 7500 at Liberec.  Jaromir Jagr did not play because of an injury suffered last week and Tomas Plekanec was kept off the scoresheet once again.  In nine games Kaberle has a goal and four assists.

…….One other note from the Czech League –  Daniel Pribyl, the 6’3″ 190 pound centre the Canadiens took in the 6th round, 168th overall, in the 2011 draft, has finally been given a regular shot with Sparta Prague.  Against Karlovy Vary Sunday, Pribyl scored a goal and an assist in a 5-4 loss.  In his three games with Sparta Pribyl has a goal and three assists.

…..In the KHL  Vityaz Chekhov (Andrei Markov) will host Kazakhstan-based Barys Astana Monday.  Former Hamilton Bulldogs Nigel Dawes and Dustin Boyd are both playing at Astana along with defensemen Victor Hedman and Ryan McDonagh.

…….The Kladno Knights (KaberleTomas Plekanec) will play their next Czech Extraliga game Tuesday against Brno Comets before an expected sellout crowd at the 17,000 seat O2 Arena in Prague.

…….In the Swiss League Tuesday Geneva (Yannick Weber) will host Gotteron.    Zug (Raphael Diaz) will travel to Zurich..
