The Tomas Plekanec line was checked to a standstill for the second straight game and the Kladno Knights’ six game winning streak came to an end with a 3-2 loss in Zlin Friday night. Once again Kladno, led by NHLer’s Plekanec, Jagr and Tlusty, played to a sold out crowd on tbe road. The line totaled two shots on goal in the game, both by Plekanec. Plekance has 7 goals, 7 assists in eight games and is currently third in the league scoring race. Tomas Kaberle also failed to earn a point in this game. Kladno is now off until next Thursday when they’ll play in Plzen.
Andrei Markov made his debut with Vityaz Chekhov Friday night. In Latvia, Dinamo Riga edged Chekhov 2-1 in overtime. The only statistics next to Markov’s name was one shot on goal and 16:55 ice time. Sunday, Yityaz will play Donbass in the Ukranian city of Donetsk.
In the Swiss National League Raphael Diaz scored the opening goal and assisted on the game winner as Zug defeated Bern 3-1 before a hometown crowd of 6800. In seven games with Zug Diaz has two goals and six assists.
Geneva continued it’s winning ways with 4-1 home win over Biel. It was a record setting ninth win in a row to start the season for the Eagles. Yannick Weber did not register a point.
And Max Pacioretty is finding out it’s not that easy to make the transition to European hockey. At Lugano, Pacioretty led both teams in shots on goal with four but again was held off the scoresheet as Ambri-Piotta was beaten 3-0. Pacioretty scored early in his first game with Ambri and has been held off the scoresheet in four games since.
On Saturday Geneva will play at Bern, Zug at Fribourg and Ambri will host the Langnau Tigers.
And on the future watch – In the OHL, Alex Galchenyuk scored a goal and an assist as Sarnia lost at home to Owen Sound 4-3. In five games this season Galchenyuk has two goals and three assists.
