CHARGES LAID OVER PAT HICKEY CAR VANDALISM

The Philadelphia Daily News reported today that 21 year old Daniel Hazlett of northeast Philadelphia has been charged in connection with the vandalism of the car owned by Gazette hockey reporter Pat Hickey during the Stanley Cup semi-final series in Philadelphia.  One thousand dollars damage was done to Hickey’s 1999 Honda and the license plate was stolen in the incident.  At the time, Hickey told police he would not press charges but police decided to move ahead on the case themselves, stating that not pursuing it would send a “wrong message”.

After reporting the incident to Philadelphia police, Hickey found a picture of the accused holding the stolen Quebec license plate on facebook.  The picture was posted by Daniel Flannery, who told police he had nothing to do with the vandalism but posted the picture because he “thought it was funny”.  Flannery has not been charged.
