Markov remained behind in Southern California when his teammates left for Anaheim following the Wednesday night loss to the Ducks. The fact that he remained in the Los Angeles area caused some confusion among some members of the Canadiens front office, some of whom were unaware of Markov’s whereabouts when questioned about it yesterday afternoon.
Turns out Markov was seeking a second opinion on the status of his right knee in Los Angeles. The specialist who examined it will send his report to the Canadiens and everyone will go from there.
Make no mistake, this is Markov being careful. He is legitimately cautious about returning before the knee is one-hundred percent sound. Last time he rushed things, Markov was back in the infirmary within three weeks with the current problem which, as of today has kept him out of the lineup for 381 days and 91 regular season games.
Canadiens doctors think he’s ready to play. The specialist who examined him yesterday may echo that opinion. If so, Markov will be in the Canadiens lineup Tuesday against Columbus.
If not? Well…………
