In the end, that skate cut over his knee caused Michael Cammalleri to miss only three games. Team doctors originally estimated a ten to fourteen day recovery period. Team doctors cleared him in the eleventh day.
Cammalleri’s conditioning will be the deciding factor but before the game is over it’s likely he’ll be back on his regular line with Tomas Plekanec and Erik Cole. That means Lars Eller would move down the depth chart, perhaps replacing Travis Moen on what is now the Canadiens third line with Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta. Aaron Palushaj will not dress for tonight’s game.
One thing is guaranteed. Cammalleri will make a regular appearance on the Canadiens struggling power play. In the eleven-plus periods he spent on the sidelines the Canadiens managed only two goals in sixteen advantages.
Defenseman Jaroslav Spacek took part in this morning’s pre-game skate. His rib injury is still bothersome and his eventual return to the lineup won’t take place until sometime next week. Spacek suffered the injury in the same game Cammalleri was hurt.
