PREVIEW GAME #47 Canadiens @ New Jersey (Jan. 20/2017)

Both teams are on the front end of back-to back games. The Canadiens host Buffalo Saturday night while the Devils will play at Philadelphia.

….Over the last two-plus seasons the Canadiens are 5-0-2 vs. New Jersey – two of the games decided in shootouts and one in overtime.

….The last time the Canadiens played at New Jersey was Nov. 27, 2015, a 3-2 shootout win.

Dec. 31st @ Pittsburgh – Pittsburgh-4 Canadiens-3 (overtime). Penguins tie the game with 55 seconds left. Evgeni Malkin scores OT PPG, Paul Byron with goal & assist.

The Canadiens have won both games vs. Detroit this season, Nov. 12th 5-0 at the Bell Centre and 2-1 in overtime Nov. 26th at Detroit.

…. Over the last twelve games vs. Detroit the Canadiens are 10-2-0 outscoring them 41-24.

….At the Joe Louis Arena the Canadiens have won eight of the last ten meetings.

The last meeting between the clubs was March 26, 2016 at the Bell Centre, a 5-2 win for the Rangers. Mike Condon was pulled with 10 minutes remaining after giving up five goals on 19 shots.

….On January 23rd 2010 Jaroslav Halak shut the Rangers out 6-0 at the Bell Centre. Over the last 7 years the Canadiens have met the Rangers twelve times at the Bell Centre and shut them out seven times.

….Since the start of the 2009-10 season the Canadiens are 11-2 at home against the Rangers and have outscored them 39-14.

The Canadiens have lost four straight games vs. Minnesota incuding the first meeting this season and both games last year.

….Since the Wild entered the league in 2000, the Canadiens are 3-4-1 in eight Minnesota visits. The have not won in Minnesota since March 20, 2011.

….The home team has won six of the last eight meetings between the clubs.

Last time the teams met in Dallas – Dec. 19, 2015, both teams were leading their respective division. After beating the Habs 6-2 Dallas improved to 24-7-2. It was the Canadiens 7th loss in eight games as they continued their plummet right out of the playoff picture. This season the Stars are jut over. 500 (16-15-7) and fifth in the Central Division. The Canadiens are back in first place in the Atlantic.



PREVIEW GAME #38 – Canadiens @ Nashville (Jan. 3/2017)

The Predators have earned at least a point in seven consecutive games vs. the Canadiens (6-0-3).

….Five of the last seven meetings have been decided in overtime – three of them won by the Canadiens. Over the last two seasons 3 of the four games have gone into overtime.

….The last time the Canadiens won a game at Bridgestone Arena was March 10th 2003. (It is also the only time in the Predators ten-game/18-year home ice history vs. the Canadiens that they won a game in regulation time at Nashville).
